Yeah I’m late to the party with the whole “thankfulness” blog, but the fact still remains that I am so thankful for my wife, the amazing and passionate ECC volunteers, friends, and just the excitement around seeing what God is going to do over the next year.
44 showed up for today’s connect event! Not only was this more than last month’s, but we had it back at our house this time. It was more cozy, more fun and well, there was bacon. I’m not sure how much better it could have gone.
The vibe reminded me of our pre-launch barbecue, but everyone was more at ease now that there is more of an understanding what EastLake really “feels” like. As I was walking around the house, seeing the Kids have a blast, hearing the music pumped, seeing tons of new faces laughing and having a good time, I thought, “man THIS is EastLake.”
One thing I overheard a few times was that people are antsy for EastLake to meet weekly. I couldn’t agree more…and it’s almost here!
December 13th is our last monthly service and then just three short weeks after that on January 3rd, we start meeting weekly!
And then of course there’s the major public launch, telling Lawrence that we’ve opened our doors. Instead of that being February 7th, we’ve bumped the date up to January 24th! So around January 14th, if you live in Lawrence, Baldwin or Eudora, you will see our mailer show up in your mailbox. It will be hard to miss - it’s an 8.5 x 11 postcard (yeah that’s huge for a postcard) that at a glance will look like a thick magazine cover.
December 13th is just a few short weeks away. Invite your friends! We will be talking about true “Hope.”

This Sunday at 10 am we are changing to a more cozy venue than last month’s connect event. Our place! This is a great chance to “bridge the gap” between monthly services to stay connected with the same people at the same time on Sunday!

Q. Is your Raef LaFrentz story real?
A. Unfortunately yes.
Q. So when do you start weekly services?
A. January 3rd is the beginning of our weekly services! But before that we have one more monthly service on December 13th!
Q. You say EastLake is “launching” in February…isn’t it already going?
A. Yep, we’re having real services now, but February 7th will be our first service where we will have announced to the entire city of Lawrence that we exist! (This will happen through a big mail piece that will go out.) This is what we consider the main “launch” day.
Q. No really, did you approach Raef LaFrentz, interrupting his date at the movies?
A. Again, unfortunately yes.
