This Sunday we begin meeting weekly! We are beginning our three-week series “D.N.A.” in which we’ll go over the things that make EastLake…EastLake. Through the course of the series it’s my hope that everyone will see these aren’t just some strategies or philosophies we made up, but rather things that reflect the heart of God.
One of the main resolutions people will make in 2010 is to either “give church a try” or to get involved more in the community. Perfect opportunities to invite those who don’t like church to EastLake! We started this for them.
Thank you for all of your support of EastLake, however you choose to do it. We are entering an exciting milestone this Sunday as we kick off our weekly services! Same time and same place (10 a.m. @ SJH). Our awesome volunteers took great care of the South Jr. High facilities and as a result the USD renewed our contract to meet there weekly which is an answer to prayer.
We’ve seen someone make a first time decision to follow Jesus in December, we now have 50 on our launch team, we’ve seen steady growth of Lawrence-based attendance at our monthly services (averaging over 100+) and we are so pumped for not only starting to meet weekly this Sunday, but our grand opening launch on January 24th!
Please continue to pray for God to move and for all of us to continue creating a safe and enjoyable place for anyone to find and follow Jesus without losing their mind or sense of humor.
So this kid Jesus wasn’t sent from heaven on a cloud of shining light into the powerful center of Rome or anything. Rather, He was born in a dirty barn box to an unwed pregnant teen amongst the smell of animals and shepherds. It probably smelled like poop where Jesus was born.
This was intentional.
This Christmas, remember that there are no messes that will keep God from showing up and pursuing you, giving you hope and joy. My prayer for us is that we can honor God by being about the giving rather than the receiving, especially if it means stepping out of our comfort zone.
