Easter is almost here?
Wow. We’re already four and a half weeks away from Easter (April 4), one of the biggest attended days for churches all across the country. I’m excited for everyone to invite their friends to experience EastLake as a possible change of pace from what they’re used to when doing the Easter church “thing.”
Also, this Sunday we close out our series “MEDS” by talking about the root of all our issues: pride.
If you missed last Sunday, here were some of the takeaways:
- Loneliness is not just a singles issue, married people can be just as lonely, or even more so.
- Loneliness can come from our own unwillingness to truly share our burdens and failures.
- Loneliness can come from feeling like we have no purpose in life.
- Loneliness can come from our own arrogance, elevating our own feelings and opinions over common sense and God’s design for life.
We can survive loneliness by…
Being known by God
- No matter how much we gain or achieve in life, nothing will satisfy the hunger of being known by God except a relationship with Him.
Being known by others
- God created us to be in community.
- It’s easy to blend in on Sunday mornings which is great if you’re kicking the tires of Christianity, but it can make relationships a bit more difficult.
- This is why volunteering on Sundays is the best way to connect on a Sunday and Growth Groups are the best ways to connect during the week at EastLake.
Knowing our purpose.
- You have great value. God made you for a purpose. That purpose is simple: to be connected to God and to other people.
- You were created by God and for God and until we understand that life will not make sense.
